I am enjoying Engage so far though, gameplay is solid. Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Jin Roh, Escaflowne, Gundam, Bubblegum Crisis, Akira, Ninja Scroll etc… but 30 years later unfortunately the work that’s built on those ideas and the tropes that have stuck around have taken the worst parts, expanded and and run with them.
#FIRE EMBLEM ENGAGE REDDIT MOVIE#
Look at Disney and Bambi for example, that movie communicates its themes using its medium and traumatised a generation in the process, in a good way.Ī lot of 80s/90s stuff was groundbreaking and still is nothing else like it existed before. You can get away with and show a lot of things you wouldn’t be able to do live action and when done right, it can have more impact because of the surface-level ‘it’s just a cartoon’ point of entry. When animation is good, it’s like nothing else. I watched all the Neon Genesis Evangelion rebuild movies in one go for the first time yesterday, which left me feeling… not much? I’m kind of in the same mindset as you with the anime fatigue. How about you? Curious to see how this one becomes received by the general gaming community, and specifically how many also prefer this over Three Houses. Also, The ‘Emblems’ and return to the weapon wheel just feel awesome. I have built all sorts of teams and combat relationships within my squad that impact all of my decisions. In fact, the emergent storytelling that comes from the strategy makes it feel like a ‘deeper’ story for me. But the combat, graphical style and music in Engage is all a huge leap above Three Houses, in my opinion. I enjoyed Three Houses and the social aspects were definitely crucial to that experience. Some aspects of the reviews must have lowered my expectations because I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I’m adoring this game so far. Honestly, I really love both approaches and hope they continue to go back and forth. It’s kind of incredible how exactly split the FE audience is on this game! Going to be so interesting to see if the next one goes hard to appease the 3H crowd. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
